Buying this was actually an excuse to try and start cooking again, and so far I'm enjoying it (except for clean-up)! My older knives were originally in a drawer before deciding to switch it up and purchasing this block (old knives were pretty blunt), but I'm glad I did. It feels great and quite sturdy for the things I tend to work with, which is nothing too fancy but mostly with chicken and thinner slices of beef. I did really appreciate the speed and packaging it came in as well, as I know this is not the highest of quality but still feels really great. For the price and amount of items you get I'd say it's good for what it is and gets the job done. Rinsing and cleaning the knives so far have not been an issue as well, and tend to look quite clean after a bit of extra soaping and scrubbing. Definitely suggest giving it a shot as it still looks good as new from the first time I received it!

Moving into a new house, we realized that we desperately needed a new set of knives. I wanted a knife block so that we'd have a variety and an easy way to store the knives. This block is heavy and sturdy. The knives are sharp and the block even comes with a sharpener if they would get dull. The only thing I would change would be for the steak knives to not be serrated so that they could also be sharpened.

This set looks beautiful in my kitchen and has everything we need. What made me choose this set not only the look though, I love the self- sharpening feature . With this I sharpen even my existing knifes . Am super happy with the purchase . I can recommend this

This is an AMAZING knife set! The balance is great and the sharpness is totally on point for all the knives from the straight edge to the serrated bread knife and steak knifes! All of them cut with super ease and have stayed sharp for countless uses! For the price, you CAN'T beat this set!! Highly recommended!! A++

I have to admit that I was fully prepared to crack some jokes about the “X50Cr15” steel that these knives are advertised to be made of. Along the lines of “probably the next best thing to kryptonium” (whatever that may be) or some other “nium”. However, that was before I researched the aforementioned material and learned that “X50Cr15” steel is actually legit and – according to one online source – “good for knives, in exception of edge retention the steel offers great corrosion resistance, great toughness and good hardness, it’s very suitable for kitchen knives, and it’s a high-quality steel”. OK, fair enough then. But how do these knives actually hold up in real life? Turns out pretty darn well! Now keep in mind that I have only been using them for a little while now, but I like to cook and I do it often - like, daily. And so far I’m impressed. Ergonomically, they come across as well balanced, which is a big deal, no matter what utensil or tool you use extensively and regularly. Almost more importantly, they appear to be solidly made and are beautifully sharp. Obviously, I hope they will remain so for the foreseeable future, but only time will tell. That said, I also realize that I did not purchase a $ 500 knife set that was hand-forged by a master blacksmith, who was previously making swords for Japanese Samurai or the Emperor’s Ninja. What I bought was an economical set of kitchen tools that I already put to good use repeatedly. So far they have not let me down, no matter whether I was slicing and dicing tomatoes, trimming fat off a piece of chicken or deboning a lamb shoulder. How they will hold up in the long run remains to be seen, of course. From personal experience I also know that proper maintenance (for instance NOT putting knives into a dishwasher…) goes a long way. Don’t ask how I learned my lesson. So for now, I’m pleasantly surprised and look forward to the journey, hoping that this set will deliver years of reliable service in my kitchen.
